- Monterey B.t. RTU should be applied when worms or caterpillars are first noticed, then repeated at five 5-7 day intervals while they are active.
- It should be applied more frequently to control heavy infestations.
- Monterey B.t. RTU should be applied thoroughly to top and bottom of foliage, and reapplied after heavy rains.
- Monterey B.t. RTU must be eaten by worms or caterpillars to be effective. After ingesting the insecticide, they immediately stop feeding, though they may otherwise appear to be unaffected for several days.

What is Monterey B.t. RTU?
It is a naturally occurring material based on the bacteria Bacillus thuringiensis subspecies kurstaki. These naturally-occurring products were discovered in the 1960’s and have been used ever since for worm and caterpillar control. When the insects ingest the product, it causes a disease in their gut, causing them to stop feeding and eventually die. The bacteria in Monterey B.t. RTU is 98.35% active (at least 6 million viable spores per mg.)

What insects are controlled?
